The INSTINCT study will investigate the epidemiology and immunology of COVID-19. The study will survey symptomatic patients and their household members. All will receive nucleic acid throat swab tests for SARS-CoV-2 virus and immunology tests on blood samples and nasal swabs. Patients and household contacts will be consented and samples taken by Imperial College research nurses in Professor Ajit Lalvani’s NIHR Respiratory Infections Health Protection Research Unit.

Inclusion criteria:

• suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19 with symptoms for <10 days
• over 5 years of age
• have household contacts (ie case is not living on their own)
