Laura Larke

BA, MSc, DPhil

Operations Administrator, Data Team

I am Operations Administrator for ORCHID, a research platform hosted by the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences at the University of Oxford. ORCHID incorporates the RCGP Research Surveillance Centre, which has been the primary source of disease surveillance in England for over 60 years. The platform holds data from multiple UK clinical systems and enables linkage between primary care and other health datasets to support surveillance, epidemiological research, clinical trials, and prospective studies.

My role provides operational oversight for ORCHID activities, ensuring that governance structures, administrative systems, and collaborative processes function effectively and in accordance with institutional and regulatory standards. I work closely with the ORCHID Operations Manager to develop and maintain robust administrative systems. This includes responsibility for user registration procedures, accurate records of mandatory training, and compliance with internal policies.

I organise the ORCHID Management Board and support PrimDISC, the Primary Care Hosted Research Datasets Independent Scientific Committee, which reviews and approves applications to access the ORCHID platform.

My academic background includes an MSc and a DPhil from the University of Oxford, complemented by experience in study coordination within a pharmaceutical CRO and over a decade of research experience. In addition to my position within the department, I am a Member of the Common Room (MCR) at St Cross College, Oxford.
