Margaret Smith

I have been working in the Department since October 2014. I am a medical statistician and I am part of the CPRD (Clinical Practice Research Datalink) team. I have worked on the study design, data mangement and statistical analysis for many studies including studies on  BMI and end stage renal disease, fracture in people with intellectual disability, anaemia studies,and COPD studies. I am Deputy Directory of the MSc EBHC in medical statistics and a co-ordinator of the Big Data Epidemiology module. I also teach on the Introduction to Study design and Research Methods modules and Essential Medical Statistics.

Before joining the Department I worked in the Nuffield Department of Population Health on two very large prospective observational studies of Chinese men and women.
