Epidemiology
ORCHID‑E is a secure, primary care–focused research database providing anonymised data from around 20 million patients to support epidemiological research and health policy insights.
Data Overview
ORCHID-E is a double pseudonymised research database that facilitates well-designed epidemiological research, with a focus on primary care. It includes computerised medical records data from approximately 2000 general practices, and around 20 million patients. The aim of ORCHID-E is to provide researchers access to patient-level, effectively anonymised, coded and numeric clinical linked data to facilitate preventive health care, diagnosis, risk prediction, clinical management and patient outcomes and to inform health care policy and practice. Additionally, it may be used to develop feasibility and sample size calculations for the development and design of trials and other interventional studies.
