ORCHID-T/P Case Studies
IID3
The IID3 project comprises three population-based studies: two prospective studies in primary care and a microbiology study involving diagnostic and reference microbiology and antimicrobial resistance determination. The research aims to address the question of whether the incidence of infectious intestinal disease (IID) in the community changed since the late 2000s in order to estimate the burden and causes of IID in the UK.
MONITORY
This project will demonstrate whether an audit-based education (ABE) tool to implement five NICE ‘Do-Not-Do’ recommendations in people with cardiometabolic multimorbidity can improve adherence to these recommendations compared with standard care alone.
PIAMS
This study will generate data on the impact of point-of-care testing (POCT) for influenza in primary care as well as help to inform the feasibility of incorporating POCT into primary care workflows. This includes taking nasopharyngeal swabs of those with flu-like symptoms and performing rapid tests at the practice, rather than sending the swab to a laboratory.
Project RSV ComNet
A multi-country study to measure the clinical and socio-economic disease burden of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in young children (aged <5 years) in primary care.
